John T. Lowther, 68 of Rices Landing, Pa, formerly of Ellsworth, passed away Wednesday, February 24, 2016 in Haney’s Personal Care Home, Rices Landing.
He was born August 9, 1947 in New Eagle, PA a son of the late Robert and Anne McNulty Lowther Sr. 
Mr. Lowther was a 1965 graduate of Ellsworth High School and attended Penn State University.
From 1967 to 1971 he served with the United States Marine Corps.
For his service during the Vietnam War he was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, with two stars, Vietnam Campaign Medal with Device, Vietnam Cross of Gallantry with Palm and the Good Conduct Medal.
Surviving is a sister Maida L. Snyder of Ellsworth; and several nieces and nephews.
Deceased in addition to his parents are four brothers, Robert Lowther Jr., Harry, Jack and Thomas Lowther; a sister Margaret Kampo; two sisters died in infancy.
