OBITUARY

Louis Illar

Louis Illar, Jr, 87 of Richeyville died Sunday, April 3, 2005 in Mt. Lebanon Manor, Mt. Lebanon, PA. He was born December 8, 1917 in Daisytown, PA a son of the late Louis and Mary Koss Illar He was a member of the Daisytown United Presbyterian Church. He was a retired miner from Bethlehem Mines Corp., later known as Beth Energy Corp, Marianna, PA. He was a member of the U.M.W.A. Local #2874. He served his country with pride during WWII in the U. S. Army. He was a member of the Hancock-McCune-Horne Post 705 Centerville. He was also a member of the VFW Post 1190 of Monesson. His Christian faith started from the age of 8 as a church bell tower ringer and continued to the age of 80, as the organist at various times for the Daisytown United Presbyterian Church, the Beallsville Presbyterian Church and the Vestaburg Presbyterian Church. He served his family tirelessly throughout his life as a projectionist at the former Roxy Theater in Richeyville and later owner of the former Richeyville Roller Rink. He was an avid bowler and enjoyed hunting and fishing. On July 4, 1941 he married Mary (Mae) Koss Illar who died December 14, 1999. Surviving are his daughter Lois Illar Balogh of Pittsburgh, PA, 1 son Louis Steven Illar of Baton Rouge, LA, 3 Granddaughters, Melissa Marie Balogh Scheiwer(William), Vera Linette Balogh D'Allesandro (Mark) and Heidi Elizabeth Balogh Loeffert (Garrett) 3 Great Grandchildren, Zachary Louis Scheiwer, Chelsey Marie Scheiwer and Gionna Marie D'Allesandro, 1 sister Mary Illar Gaste of Richeyville, PA and 1 brother, Steve Illar (Yvonne) of Beltsville, MD. Friends will be received from 7 to 9 Tuesday and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 Wednesday in the John B. Greenlee Funeral Home, 2830 Main Street, Beallsville, PA where a brief prayer will be held on Thursday, April 7, 2005 at 10:15 A.M., followed by additional services in the Daisytown United Presbyterian Church at 11:00 A.M. with Rev. Paul Min officiating. Interment will be in the Beallsville Cemetery, Beallsville, PA. Full military rites will be accorded at graveside by Hancock-McCune-Horne Post 705. Family suggest memorials be made to the Alzheimer's Association, Greater Pennsylvania Chapter, 100 West Station Square Dr., The Landmarks Building, Suite 500, Pittsburgh, PA 15219.
