OBITUARY

Stephen A. Chmura, 56 of Torrance, CA. formerly of Scenery Hill died Wednesday June 23, 2009 following a lengthy battle with cancer.
He was born October 29, 1952 in Monongahela a son of the late Joseph S. Chmura who died November 11, 2005 and Martha Dropik Chmura of Scenery Hill who survives.
Mr. Chmura was a 1970 graduate of Bentworth High School and attended Carnegie Mellon University. He started his career as a computer engineer with N.A.S.A. He later was employed for over 30 years by Digital Inc. which became Compaq and then Hewlett-Packard of El Segundo, CA.
He had been a lifelong member of the Ave Maria Roman Catholic Parish of Bentleyville. He was also was an amateur radio operator and enjoyed building and flying radio controlled helicopters.
On October 26, 1996 he married Dr. Chris Elizabeth Gilbert M.D. who survives.
Surviving in addition to his wife and mother is two sisters, Barbara Cole and husband Dennis of Prosperity, Pa., Kimberly S. Chmura and husband Thomas Tesche of Fort Wright, KY., two brothers, Joseph Chmura and wife Sharon of Antioch, CA., Edward Chmura and wife Georgette of Adah, Pa., and several nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received from 2-4pm and 6-9pm Monday in the Greenlee Funeral Home, 619 Main St. Bentleyville where prayers will be said at 9:30am Tuesday June 30, 2009 followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00am in the Ave Maria Roman Catholic Church, Bentleyville with Rev. Gary Krummert as celebrant. Interment will follow in the Beallsville Cemetery.
