Osie Chopp Andreis

Osie Dodds Chopp Andreis, 86, of Cecil, died Tuesday, August 18, 2009.

She was born August 25, 1922, in Jefferson, a daughter of John and Anna Rutter Dodds. She was one of 15 children.

On her sixth birthday, she went to live with her sister and brother-in-law, the late Blanche and James Haywood, and was raised by them.

Mrs. Andreis was a 1940 graduate of Jefferson High School.

She was a beloved mother and grandmother who enjoyed reading and playing cards. Although she was employed for short periods of time, her main interest was always her family. She loved card parties with her large family and friends.

Throughout her life, she persevered through many surgeries and ill health, including crippling arthritis. Her family was blessed that she struggled through many health adversities and continued to live for almost 87 years.

Mrs. Andreis was a member of Immaculate Conception Church and its Christian Mothers, in Washington, for 30 years. For the past eight years, she was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Muse. She was a member of Washington Senior Citizens and its card club. She also enjoyed a second card club with friends.

On May 24, 1941, she married John Chopp, who died February 10, 1982. On April 23, 1988, she married Harry Andreis, who died July 25, 1992.

Surviving are two daughters, Rita (Dan) Liebman of Cecil, with whom she had made her home for the past eight years, and Marie Cooper Konecny of Highland Village, Texas; a brother; John (Peg) Haywood of Rapid City, S.D.; a sister, Sister Mary Joy Haywood of Pittsburgh; three foster brothers, John Petek of Jefferson, Joseph (Ruth) Petek of Jefferson and Michael (Denise) Petek of Rapid City; six grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Also surviving is the family of Harry Andreis, which includes Gary, Robert, Harry, Richard and Renee, and their families.

Deceased are a son, John James Chopp, who died January 7, 1971; six sisters, Marry Murray, Anna Lutes Yoders, Sylvia Osborne, Blanche Haywood, Laura Sands and Rita Haywood; six brothers, Ray Dodds, Edward Dodds, William Dodds, James Dodds, Walter Dodds and Father Tomas Haywood; and three siblings who died in infancy.

She was the last of the Dodds family.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are being accepted for Masses or on behalf of World Vision - Christian World Missionaries.
