Vera M. Santee, 95, of Fredericktown, Deemston Borough, passed away Friday, March 9, 2018, in her home.

She was born April 21, 1922, in Sutton, W.Va., a daughter of the late Amos Grover and Beulah Sutton Lewis.

On June 5, 1943, she married Earl (Buddy) Santee, who passed away February 26, 1983.

A homemaker, she was a graduate of Centerville High School.

Mrs. Santee was a 54-year member of Mt. Zion United Methodist Church, Fredericktown, where she held numerous offices. As a member of Women's Society of Christian Service and a socialite, she was always helping with dinners and other events at the church. One of her proudest accomplishments was being able to help organize vacation Bible school.

In addition to her church activities, she volunteered for years at the former Brownsville General Hospital.

A member of Beth Center Senior Citizens Center, Vestaburg, Mrs. Santee enjoyed all of the trips sponsored by the center, especially those to the Poconos and Atlantic City. She was an avid shuffleboard player, winning many medals in the senior games.

Her favorite hobbies included bingo, card games, crossword puzzles and cryptograms. A voracious reader, she became immersed in whatever she was reading. Crafts, painting and dancing were also beloved activities. Her best-known trait was always being on the go.

Being with her family, grandchildren and great-grandchildren was especially meaningful to her.

Surviving are a son, Alan W. Santee of Fredericktown; two granddaughters, Alanna (Scott) Popovich of Canonsburg and Megan (Clark) Walrod of Raleigh, N.C.; two great-grandchildren, Ava and Alexander Popovich; two brothers-in-law, Robert Santee and Clifford Santee; and several nieces and nephews.

Deceased, in addition to her husband, are two sons, Kenneth Earl Santee (1950) and Randall Craig Santee (1960); a daughter-in-law, Gerrie Santee (2005); and two sisters, Doris Tucker and Freda Giffin.

Arrangements are private and under the direction of John B. Greenlee Funeral Home, 2830 Main Street, Beallsville.
