Ave Maria Parish member was GC Murphy employee

Suzanne “Bub” Merichko, 99, of Cokeburg, died Wednesday, February 2, 2011, in Washington County Health Center, Chartiers Township.

She was born March 24, 1911, in Lopez, a daughter of the late Michael and Mary Holochak Matosky.

Prior to retirement, she was employed for more than 22 years with G.C. Murphy Co. of Charleroi.

Mrs. Merichko was a lifelong member of Ave Maria Parish in Bentleyville.

She enjoyed needlepoint, crocheting, flower gardening and cooking.

Surviving are two sons, Andrew Merichko of Slaton, Texas, and Michael “Pikey” Merichko of Bentleyville; a daughter, Betty “Bunny” Merichko of Cokeburg; two bothers, William (Lois) Matosky of St. Petersburg, Fla., and Steve (Lucille) Matosky of North Royalton, Ohio; a sister-in-law, Alice Matosky of St. Petersburg; five grandchildren, Teresa Rankin, Charlotte Merichko, Robert Merichko, Andrew (Cathy) Pordash and David (Kym) Pordash; five great-grandchildren, Brittany Pordash, David “D.J.” Pordash, Joey Pordash, Justin Pordash and Matthew McCarty; and several nieces and nephews.

She also leaves a special friend, Darlene “Tunie” Error.

Deceased are her husband, Andrew Merichko, who died November 28, 1952; two sisters, Helen Meehan and Ann Kudra; and six brothers, Chuck, John, Mike, Sam, Andy and George Matosky.

Friends will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday and 1 to 3 and 5 to 9 p.m. Wednesday in Greenlee Funeral Home, 619 Main Street, Bentleyville, where prayers will be said at 9:30 a.m. Thursday, February 10, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in Ave Maria Roman Catholic Church, Bentleyville, with the Rev. Gary Krummert, as celebrant. Interment will be in Beallsville Cemetery. Contributions may be made to Ave Maria Parish, 126 Church Street, Bentleyville, PA 15314.
