OBITUARY

John R. Fallecker

John R. Fallecker, age 92 formerly of Vestaburg, PA died at 2:55 p.m. Thursday, May 6, 2004 in Latrobe, PA at the home of his daughter Gwendolyn K. Saffin. He was born August 11, 1911 in Pleasant Unity, PA a son of the late John George and Lillian Goodman Fallecker. Mr. Fallecker worked for J & L Steel for 38 years serving as Assistant Mine Forman for 27 years having retired in 1972. He taught first aid for 21 years and was a member of the Mine rescue team for 20 years. Mr. Fallecker was a member of the Beth Center Senior Citizens having served as President for 2 terms and enjoyed bus tours with the senior citizens. He was also a member of the Skulton Rod & Gun club, enjoyed hunting and fishing and spending time at his summer home at Whipkey Dam in Markleton, PA. Mr. Fallecker was a resident of Vestaburg for over 71 years. While there he helped build the Wesley Methodist Church in Vestaburg now known as the Shiloh Baptist Church. On August 17, 1935 in Somerset, PA he married Muriel Kinsell Fallecker who died October 1, 2003. Surviving are four daughters; Mrs. Robert (Ruth) Smith of Greensburg, PA, Donna M. Cross of Brownsville, PA, Mrs. Louis (Martha) Fargo of Daisytown, PA and Mrs. John (Gwendolyn K.) Saffin of Latrobe, PA; eleven grandchildren Hope, Curtis and Dawn Smith, Ronald Cross, Candice Rebovich, Roberta Cross, Valerie Markich, Connie Barrett, Tammy Takitch, Heidi Adamrovich and Mary Sperber; twelve great grandchildren. Deceased in addition to his parents and second wife are his first wife Edith Poole who died in 1933; two sisters Lillian Shaffer and Ella Mae Reid; one brother James Fallecker; one granddaughter Kimberly Fargo and one great granddaughter Anna Marie Rebovich. Friends will be received Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. in the Greenlee's Fredericktown Funeral Home, 42 Bank St. at Crawford Rd., Fredericktown, PA where services will be held on Monday, May 10, 2004 at 1:30 p.m. with the Rev. John Blystone officiating. Interment will follow in the Beallsville Cemetery, Beallsville, PA.
