Martha Chmura, 82 of Washington, PA, formerly of Scenery Hill, Pa died April, 17, 2014.

            She was born August 30, 1931 in Westmoreland County a daughter of the late Stephen and Mary Urban Dropik.

            Mrs. Chmura attended Jefferson High School and had been a homemaker. She always stressed the importance and value of family and worked hard to instill that in her children and grandchildren.

            Mrs. Chmura enjoyed crocheting, gardening, butterflies, spending time with her friends at Strabane trails, and visiting the Meadows Casino. One of her biggest joys was baking for her friends and family. She specifically enjoyed making Pizzelle cookies and giving them out to friends.

            She was a longtime member of the Ave Maria Parish of Bentleyville and also member of the Catholic Daughters of America.

            On January 27, 1951 she married Joseph S. Chmura who preceded her in death November, 20, 2005.

            Surviving are two daughters; Barbara Cole (Dennis) of New Smyrna Beach, FL and Kimberly Chmura (Thomas Tesche) of Boise, ID, two sons; Joseph Chmura (Sharon) of Antioch, CA and Edward Chmura (Georgette) of Scenery Hill, PA, ten grandchildren; Bryan McManus, David Chmura, Joseph Chmura, Daniel Chmura, Alisha Chmura, Sarra Chmura, David Tesche, Charlie Mitchell, Eddie Jo Mitchell and Beth Mitchell. two great grandchildren; Peyton Chmura and Gregory Mitchell, a brother; Frank Dropik (Peggie) of Cleveland, OH and a sister JoAnn Kloock (Ray) of Pittsburgh, PA as well as several nieces and nephews.

            Deceased in addition to her parents and her husband is a son, Stephen a Chmura and a sister, Mary Smollar.

            Friends will be received Tuesday from 2-4 and 6-8pm in the Greenlee Funeral Home, 619 Main St. Bentleyville where a prayer service will be held at 9:30am Wednesday April 23, 2014 followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00am in the Ave Maria Church, Bentleyville.
