Josephine Helen Bercik Belski Self-employed baker Josephine Helen Bercik Belski died Saturday October 8, 2011, peacefully, in Humbert Lane Nursing Home, South Strabane Township. She was born August 1, 1923, in Daisytown, a daughter of John and Julia Takacs Bercik. Mrs. Belski was a lifelong resident of Cloverhill (Daisytown) and a current resident of Humbert Lane Rehabilitation and Nursing Home. She was a lifelong member of Daisytown Presbyterian Church, where she was an elder and past president of the ladies’ aide. Mrs. Belski was known as the “cake lady,” as she was a self-employed baker, baking wedding cakes, birthday cakes and cakes for all occasions, as well as cookies and pastries. She was the wife of Peter P. Belski Sr., who died September 18, 1980. Surviving are three children, Peter Belski Jr. (Jean), Gloria Backner (Bob – Richard) and David Belski (Dori) all of Daisytown; five grandsons, Ronald Fisher of Daisytown, Timothy Belski (Tracy) of Union Bridge, Md., Drew Belski (Theresa) of Beaver Falls, Brian Backner of Uniontown and Dr. Casey Belski (Shannon) of Pittsburgh; five great-grandchildren, Hannah, Nicholas John, Christopher, Nicholas Edward and Callie Master; and many nieces and nephews. Deceased, in addition her parents and husband, are three sisters, Elizabeth Kundrick, Julia King and Irene Sustrick; two brothers, Alfred and Steve Bercik; and a niece, Carolyn King Kash. Mrs. Belski was the last of her immediate family. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday in John B. Greenlee Funeral Home, 2830 Main Street, Beallsville, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, October 11. Interment will be in Beallsville Cemetery.
