Loyal N. Carson

WWII veteran, Antique Automobile Club enthusiast

Loyal N. “Blackie” Carson, 84, of Washington, died Sunday, October 16, 2011, in Washington Hospital.

He was born March 1, 1927, in Coal Center, a son of the late Herman and Irene Allman Carson.

Mr. Carson served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.

He was a member of Avery United Methodist Church.

A member of Antique Automobile Club of America, which was one of his favorite hobbies, he also belonged to Mon Valley Region AACA, where he served as president from 1976 to 1977, and the Covered Bridge Region AACA of Washington.

Mr. Carson also was a member of Scenery Hill Lions Club, where he served as president in 1963; Masonic Blue Lodge since 1953; Beallsville F&AM Lodge 237; Olin F. Wright Lodge 79, Plant City, Fla.; Washington Lodge 164; Scottish Rite Consistory Lodge 32, Valley of Pittsburgh; and Lodge of Perfection, Uniontown.

He also loved to travel.

Mr. Carson was employed by West Penn Power Co. for 26 years, and Allegheny Power Co. as a service corporation analyst for 13 years, until his retirement in 1986.

On October 15, 1949, he married Jacqueline Morrow, who survives.

Also surviving is a brother, Frank M. Carson of Washington.

Deceased, in addition to his parents, are a son, Douglas Kaye Carson; two brothers, H. Wayne Carson and Lester W. Carson; and three sisters, Zelda C. Kozar, Freda L. Crise and Vera Ruth Johnson.

A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Wednesday, October 19, in Avery United Methodist Church, Washington, with the Rev. Ruth Simmons officiating.

Internment will be private and held at the convenience of the family, at Beallsville Cemetery.
