Accomplished seamstress enjoyed sewing, gardening

Mary C. Nelson, 87, of Bentleyville, died Monday, June 6, 2011, in her home.

She was born January 22, 1924, in Bentleyville, a daughter of the late George and Anna Sheets Beck.

Mrs. Nelson was a homemaker and a lifelong member of Ave Maria Parish.

She enjoyed sewing and gardening and was an accomplished seamstress.

Surviving are two daughters, Cynthia Nelson of Richmond, Va., and Jamie Nelson of Bentleyville; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

On October 10, 1942, she married James G. Nelson, who died May 9, 1988.

In addition to her parents and husband, deceased are a daughter, Judith Jones; a son, John Paul Nelson; and four brothers, George, John, Eugene and Charles Beck.

Friends will be received from 10 a.m. to noon, the hour of service, Wednesday, June 8, in Greenlee Funeral Home, 619 Main Street, Bentleyville, with the Rev. Gary Krummert officiating. Interment will be in Beallsville Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions be made to Ave Maria Parish, 26 Church Street, Bentleyville, PA 15314.
