OBITUARY

Harry E. Shumaker

Harry E. Shumaker, 86 of Canonsburg, PA formerly of Eighty Four, PA died Monday, September 17, 2007 in his home. He was born March 13, 1921 in Glassport, PA a son of Clair and Elsie March Shumaker. Mr. Shumaker served in the US Army during WWII as a Platoon Sergeant in the Pacific Theater. He received many medals including a Bronze Star, distinguished Unit Badge and WWII Victory Medal. He was a coal miner and worked as a master mechanic for the R.G. Johnson Co., retiring in 1984. He was a member of the Cokeburg Presbyterian Church, the United Mine Workers of America and was an avid hunter and fisherman. On May 14, 1943 he married Kathryn Shronovich in Anniston, AL who survives. Also surviving is a daughter, Kathleen (Lawrence) Armenini of Canonsburg, PA with whom he made his home; one sister Marcelle Kahl of Bentleyville, PA one brother, Buck (Jean) Shumaker of Rodgersville, PA, one granddaughter, Gina Armenini and one Grandson, Michael (Sylvia) Armenini. Deceased are two grandsons, a sister, Ruth Duvall and brother Kenneth Shumaker. Friends will be received on Thursday, from 4 to 8 PM in the Greenlee Funeral Home, 619 Main Street, Bentleyville, PA where funeral services will be held on Friday, September 21, 2007 at 11:00 AM with Rev. Ray Bruno officiating. Interment will be in the Beallsville Cemetery. Military Rites will be accorded graveside.
