Dr. Polan was born on February 25, 1937 and passed away on Tuesday, February 24, 2009.

Dr. Polan was a resident of Glenshaw, Pennsylvania at the time of his passing.

He was a 1955 graduate of Washington High School. He was also a graduate of Washington & Jefferson College of Washington, Pa. and a Graduate of the Jefferson School of Medicine of Philadelphia.

Dr. Polan was a veteran of the Vietnam War serving as a Captain in the U.S. Army Medical Corps. He served two tours of duty in country as a physician in a forward M.A.S.H. unit. He was awarded many decorations for his service including the Purple Heart Medal for being wounded. He was honorably discharged in 1968.

He is survived by his wife Dora.

Friends will be received from 1-4pm on Friday in the John B. Greenlee Funeral Home, 2830 Main St. Beallsville where funeral services will be held Saturday February 28, 2009 at 1:00pm with Rev. James Markley officiating. Interment will be in the Beallsville Cemetery. Full Graveside Military Rites will be Accorded by the Hancock-McCune-Horne American Legion Post 705 of Centerville.
