OBITUARY

John Chernay, 93, of Daisytown, died Thursday April 13, 2006 in Humbert Lane Personal Care Home, Washington, PA following a short illness.
He was born October 3, 1912 in Hungary a son of the late Andrew and Anna Csompoly Chernay.
He was a original member of Assumption Roman Catholic Church in Daisytown until its closure in 1994 and since that time a member of St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church in Daisytown, PA.
Mr. Chernay retired in 1976 from J & L Steel Vesta #4 mine and was a member of the United Mine Workers of America Local#6330. He enjoyed Golfing in his free time. 
On October 9 1943 he married Verona Danyi Chernay of Daisytown, PA who survives.
Surviving in addition to his wife are four daughters - Rose Chernay of Canonsburg, PA, Barbara Kerch of Holbrook, PA, Ruth Hockley of Carlisle, PA and Deanna Martik of Coal Center, PA; three sons - John A. Chernay of Langhorne, PA, Dennis Chernay of Belle Vernon, PA and Gary Chernay of Coal Center, PA; twenty-two grandchildren and three great grandchildren; two brothers - Frank Chernay of Cleveland, OH and Ed Chernay of Arizona; six sisters - Emma Bennie, Roberta Norris and Eleanor Antonelli all of Cleveland, OH, Rose McCann, Peggy Weseman and Marianne Eaton all of Arizona; several nieces and nephews also surviving.
Deceased in addition to his parents are four brothers - Andrew, Steve, Ernie and Joe Chernay; three sisters - Julia Gubics, Ann Cervelli and Betty Lanyi.
Friends will be received Monday from 3 to 8 p.m. in the John B. Greenlee Funeral Home, 2830 Main St., Beallsville where friends will gather Tuesday, April 18, 2006 at 10:00 a.m. to proceed to St. Agnes R.C. Church, Richeyville for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. with Rev. John Forbidussi as celebrant. Interment will be in Beallsville Cemetery, Beallsville, PA.
