OBITUARY

Rhoda Christy Pollock, 98, of Millsboro, PA., died Thursday, May 28, 2009 in her home. She was born September 27, 1910 in Finleyville, PA, a daughter of the late Andrew and Mary Jane Parish Christy. Mrs. Pollock graduated East Beth High School in 1928 and received her Bachelors Degree in Education from California Normal (California University) in 1930, and taught in the East Bethlehem School District. On October 22, 1943 she married Willerton Pollock, who died July 7, 1987. In 1970, after 40 years of service, she retired from teaching, but not from life. Line dancing became a passion, as well as traveling. She and Willerton thought nothing of driving long distances to purchase peaches or to simply “go shopping”. Mrs. Pollock was loved by all who knew her because of her kind and generous manner. Rhoda was the oldest member of the Millsboro Presbyterian Church where she was a member of the choir, Women’s Association, and served on the Board of Sessions. She was also a member of the Fredericktown Civic Club. Surviving is one sister in law, Gloria Christy, and several nieces and nephews. Deceased, in addition to her parents and husband, are four sisters- Mabel Teasdale, Bertha Carrick, Ida Dorsch, and Gladys Christy; and three brothers- Harry, Edward, and Andrew Christy. Friends will be received from 5-8 PM Sunday in the Greenlee Funeral Home, 42 Bank Street at Crawford Road, Fredericktown, where funeral services will be held on Monday, June 1, 2009 at 1:00 PM with the Rev. William Bradford Davis officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Millsboro Presbyterian Church, P.O. Box 265, Millsboro, PA 15438.
