OBITUARY

Clara Ross Ramsey, 88, of Ellsworth, died Tuesday, December 16, 2014.

She was born in Richwood, West Virginia, a daughter of the late Joseph and Elizabeth Cartino Zarlino of Ellsworth.

She was self-employed for most of her years as a caterer and restaurant owner of Clara’s at the Ellsworth Hotel. She was famous for her Italian cooking.

She was also a good bowler in her younger years and won many awards.

Her largest achievement was when she was on the borough council as a councilwoman, then ran for mayor of Ellsworth and won and preceded to do many good things for the borough. She was instrumental in reclaiming the Ellsworth slate dumps into park areas.

As many times as her family wanted her to move to Ohio, her heart was always in her beloved Ellsworth.

Surviving are sisters, Frances Pistilli of Bentleyville and Joanne Marcini of Streetsboro, Ohio and brothers, Joseph Zarlino of Bedford, Ohio, Ralph Zarlino of Parma, Ohio, James Zarlino of Shalersville, Ohio and many nieces and nephews.

Deceased in addition to her parents are sister, Catherine Smith and brothers, George “Scorky” Zarlino and Donald “Koolie” Zarlino.

Friends are welcome for a memorial visitation from noon to 2 p.m. Saturday, December 27, 2014 at the Thompson-Marodi Funeral Home, Inc., 809 Main Street, Bentleyville, 724-239-2255, where a memorial service will follow at 2 p.m. with the Rev.
