Catherine A. VanVoorhis, 95 of Eighty Four, PA died Friday, January 11, 2013 in the Washington Co. Health Center. She was born June 27, 1917 a daughter of the late Perry and Grace Henderson Morrow. She was a 1933 graduate of Ellsworth High School and a 1936 graduate of the Washington Hospital School of Nursing. Mrs. VanVoorhis worked as an R.N. in the Washington Hospital for many years before her retirement. After her retirement she worked as a private duty nurse. She was a former President of the Washington County Quilters and enjoyed sewing, crocheting and quilting. Surviving are four sons; Thomas M. “Tim” VanVoorhis of Eighty Four, PA, Victor V. VanVoorhis of Mansfield, TX, David L. VanVoorhis of Scenery Hill, and John C. VanVoorhis of Cape Carol, FL, two sisters; Ruth Gloss of Columbiana, OH, and Jacqueline Carson of Washington, PA, nine grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Deceased in addition to her parents and husband is a sister Helen Roupe. Friends will be received January 16, 2013 Wednesday 12 to 3 PM the hour of service in the John B. Greenlee Funeral Home 2830 Main Street Beallsville, PA. Interment will follow in the Beallsville Cemetery.
