Bernice L. Sargent

Enjoyed farming and traveling

Bernice L. Sargent, 96, of Scenery Hill, died Friday, October 15, 2010, in White’s Private Care Home, Centerville.

She was born November 30, 1913, in Clarksville, a daughter of the late Benjamin F. and Emma Moore Simmons.

Mrs. Sargent was a graduate of Penn Commercial Business School and was employed at the Washington and Fayette County courthouses.

On October 14, 1939, she married Glenn C. Sargent, a lifelong farmer, who died December 20, 1996. Together, they owned and operated a successful dairy farm for several years until their retirement.

After her retirement, she enjoyed camping and traveling with her late husband. She loved the farm lifestyle and loved cats. Her hobbies included gardening and working crossword puzzles.

Surviving are a son, John R. Sargent and wife Patricia of Scenery Hill; a grandson, John G. Sargent and wife Debbie of Finleyville; a great-grandson, Nathan Sargent; and two great-granddaughters, Leah and Jenna Sargent.
