OBITUARY

Dorothy Frederick Ball, age 80 of Bentleyville, PA died Tuesday July 19, 2004 in the Presbyterian Senior Care, Washington after a lengthy illness.
Mrs. Ball was born August 19, 1923 in Washington, PA a daughter of the late George and Hanna Davis Frederick.
She was a 1941 graduate of Ellsworth High School where she had been class president and was ranked third in her class. In school she was a member of the glee club, debate team, newspaper staff, and the accompanied musician program. Following graduation she attended Penn Commercial Business School and became a secretary in various capacities. In 1967 she graduated from California State College with a Bachelors degree in Education and in 1968 she received her Masters degree also from California State.
Mrs. Ball taught third grade for the Ringgold School District for over 14 years.
She was a lifetime member of the Bentleyville Presbyterian Church where she taught Sunday school, Vacation Bible School, was Choir director and organist for 15 years, served as a Elder and Deacon. She also was a member of the Women's Association of the church.
Mrs. Ball was a talented and avid musician. She started playing the organ at the age of 12 for the Ellsworth Presbyterian Church and was well known in the community for teaching many young people to play the piano.
On January 1, 1943 she married Dr. Arthur L. Ball who died February 16, 1992.
Surviving is a daughter - Nancy L. Smiley of Huntsville, AL; 2 Sons - Gregory S. Ball of Girard, Pa. and Brian D. Ball of Coal Center, PA; 12 Grandchildren - Brian, Ashley, Zachary, Alexander, Abigail, Karen, Stephanie, Amanda, and Kimberly Ball, Jennifer Pulis , Linda Conner, Tom Smiley; 7 Great Grandchildren; 1 Brother - Joe Frederick of Coal Center, PA; Several Nieces and Nephews.
Deceased in addition to her husband is her Step Mother - Amanda Frederick; 2 Brothers - Eugene and Robert Frederick.

Friends will be received from 7 to 9pm Wednesday and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9pm Thursday in the Greenlee Funeral Home 619 Main St. Bentleyville, PA where a brief service will be held at 10:30am Friday July 23, 2004 followed by services at 11:00am in the Bentleyville Presbyterian Church, Bentleyville with Rev. John Garvin officiating. Interment will be in the Beallsville Cemetery, Beallsville, PA.
