NILES-- Edna Ruth Wheeler, 94, formerly of Warren, died Tuesday, May 27, 2008, at Manor of Autumn Hills in Niles. She moved to Warren seven years ago from Washington, Pa.
She was born Sept. 5, 1923, in Beallsville, Pa., the daughter of the late Robert S. and Annetta Milliken John.
Edna graduated from Beallsville High School in 1931, where she was salutatorian of her class and played basketball. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, reading and playing her piano. But most of all her joy was taking care of her family and being a homemaker.
She was a lifetime member of Beallsville Methodist Church in Pennsylvania and, as long as she was able, attended Grace United Methodist Church in Warren.
Survivers include a daughter, Joanne (Edward) Bliss of Warren; a granddaughter, Coleen Ruth (Douglas) Caswell of Boardman; several nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews, all out of state.
Other than her parents, Edna was preceded in death by her husband, Clyde Wheeler, whom she married Aug. 10, 1932 and who died Oct. 15, 1979; a daughter Beverly Coleen Wheeler, who was one year old; a sister, Josephine Phillips and two brothers, James and Kenneth.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Carl W. Hall Funeral Home, where family and friends may visit from 9 to 11 a.m. Thursday.
Interment will be in Beallsville Cemetery, Beallsville, Pa., following the funeral service.
The family wishes to thank Southern Care and Hospice of the Valley for their wonderful loving support. With grateful hearts we thank the staff at the manor for their love and care given to Edna.
