Bentleyville Communications retiree was active in church

Joan Elaine Tiberie, 67, of Bentleyville, died Sunday, September 4, 2011, in Donnell House, Washington.

She was born July 18, 1944, in North Charleroi, a daughter of the late John and Grace Deneen Petrisek.

Mrs. Tiberie was a 1962 graduate of Bentleyville High School.

In 1963, she began her 36-year career with Bentleyville Communications Corp. as a customer service representative, retiring in 1999 as business office manager. During her tenure, she served as secretary to the board of directors for 20 years and was a board director for six years.

She was a 54-year member of Bentleyville United Methodist Church. She was a member and past president of United Methodist Women, Elizabeth Sunday school class and the United Methodist Church Council.

Mrs. Tiberie enjoyed playing golf and was a member of the senior bowling league at Tan-O-Bell Lanes, Bentleyville.

On July 26, 1974, she married Daniel N. Tiberie, who died February 10, 2005.

Surviving are two sisters, Virginia Roberts of Washington and Nancy M. Bular of Bentleyville; a brother, John E. Petrisek (Karlene) of Bentleyville; four stepchildren, Jack Tiberie (Donna) of Palmyra, Jacqueline Cizmek (Robert) of Beallsville, Donald Tiberie (Julietta) of Mt. Sinai, N.Y., and Dale Tiberie (Colleen) of Scenery Hill; 10 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; seven nieces and nephews; and 14 great-nieces and nephews.

Deceased, in addition to her parents and husband, is a good friend, Louis O’Neal, whom she spent time with in Hershey, who died January 15, 2011.

Friends will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday in Greenlee Funeral Home, 619 Main Street, Bentleyville, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, September 8, with the Rev. Sang Choi officiating. Interment will follow in Beallsville Cemetery. The family suggests contributions be made to Bentleyville United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 183, Bentleyville, PA 15314.
