OBITUARY

Thomas E. Worthy

Thomas E. Worthy, 80, of Fredericktown (Centerville Boro) formerly of McKeesport died at 2:35 am in the I H S Greenery of Canonsburg following a brief illness. He was born on July 5, 1923 in McKeesport, Pa. a son of the late Matthew and Jeanette Mack Worthy. Mr. Worthy was a veteran of WW II serving in the U.S. Army from 1943 to 1946 in the 30th Infantry of the Army's 3rd Division. He became a prisoner of war after being captured in Ansio. He had received many medals and commendations for his service. He had been employed by Bruce Brown Oldsmobile-Toyota in McKeesport for over 25 years where he was the service manager and later the general manager before retiring in 1982. Mr. Worthy was a member of the Mt. Zion Methodist Church in Fredericktown. On May 18, 1949 he married Lois L. Cogley Worthy who survives. Also surviving are two daughters, Patricia Douglas and her husband Mark of Beallsville, and Lois Anne Hamilton and her husband Robert of Wilmington, DE. One sister, Bette Huffman of Rostraver, Pa., one brother, Eugene Worthy of White Oak, Pa. and five Grandchildren, Thom Douglas, Cara Boledovic, Rebecca, Brian, and David Hamilton. Deceased are three brothers, James, Walter, Herbert Worthy. Friends will be received from 2-9 pm on Wednesday in the John B. Greenlee Funeral Home, 2830 Main St. Beallsville, where services will be held at 1:00 pm on Thursday February 5, 2004 with Rev. Gary Gregg officiating. Interment will be in Beallsville Cemetery.
