Jeffrey M. Ladisic

UMWA member, Clyde Mine employee was outdoorsman

Jeffrey M. (Willie) Ladisic, 57, of Beallsville, died unexpectedly Monday, May 23, 2011, from injuries sustained in an automobile accident.

He was born January 18, 1954, in Flushing, N.Y., a son of Peter Ladisic Sr. of Cokeburg, who survives, and the late Francis Miller Ladisic.

Mr. Ladisic was a 1972 graduate of Cardozza High School in Bayside, N.Y.

He was employed by Republic and LTV Steel at Clyde Mine in Fredericktown, where he was an electrician and an underground miner. He owned and operated Dr. Glass in Washington, where he provided glass and locksmithing services. He also served as assistant chief of police in Cokeburg for three years.

Mr. Ladisic was a member of United Mine Workers of America, F&AM Lodge 331 Ligonier and Ellsworth Sportsman’s Club and a former member of Cokeburg Volunteer Fire Department.

For two years, Mr. Ladisic played professional football in New York, where he was awarded the most spirited defenseman. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, woodworking, sports, gardening and the outdoors.

On October 3, 1980, he married Jeannie M. Salay, who survives.

Surviving, in addition to his wife and father, are two sons, SFC Jeffrey J. Ladisic, U.S. Army, (Wendy) of McMurray and 1st Lt. Joseph M. Ladisic, PA ARNG, of Beallsville; a brother, Peter Ladisic Jr. (Cookie) of Sarasota, Fla.; a sister, Kim Thompson (Charles) of Bentleyville; a granddaughter, Lilian A. Ladisic; and several nieces and nephews.

Deceased, in addition to his mother, is a brother, Bruce Ladisic.

Friends will be received from 1 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday in John B. Greenlee Funeral Home, 2830 Main Street, Beallsville, where a blessing service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, May 27. Interment will be private. F&AM Lodge 331 will hold services at 7:30 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home. All are welcome to attend.
