OBITUARY

Joseph Zuchowsky

Joseph Zuchowsky, 90 of Daisytown, PA died Tuesday, February 16, 2010 in Presbyterian Sr. Care of Washington, PA following a lengthy illness.
He was born February 6, 1920 in Daisytown, PA a son of the late Frank and Anna Luzinsky Zuchowsky.
Mr. Zuchowsky was a U.S. Army veteran of WWII serving in the Pacific Theater in coastal artillery. 
As underground coal miner, he had been employed for Jones and Laughlin Steel Corp. in Vesta #4 and #5 mines where he held various jobs within the mine including being part of the rescue crew. After 47 years of service he retired in 1982.
Mr. Zuchowsky was a member of the parishes of St. Mary’s R. C. Church of Daisytown and St. Agnes R. C. Church of Richeyville, PA for over 57 years. He also was a member of Hancock-McCune-Horne American Legion Post #705 of Centerville, the Miners Club of Richeyville and the Polish Club of California, PA.
On June 12, 1948 he married Mary Dolak Zuchowsky who survives. 
Also surviving are a son, Joseph F. Zuchowsky and his wife Marie of Clarksville, PA; one daughter Marianna Williamson and her husband Richard of Beallsville, PA; three grandchildren, Keith Yancec, Heather Keys and Joshua Zuchowsky; two great grandchildren; two step great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was the last of his immediate family.
Deceased are brother, Frank Zuchowsky and sister, Stella Brandle.
Friends will be received on Thursday from 6 to 8 P.M. and Friday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 P.M. in the John B. Greenlee Funeral Home, 2830 Main Street, Beallsville, PA where prayers will be said at 9:30 A.M. followed by a 10:00 A.M. Mass of Christian Burial in the St. Agnes R. C. Church, Richeyville, PA with the Rev. John Forbidussi as celebrant. Interment will be in the Beallsville Cemetery, Beallsville, PA. Full military burial rites will be accorded by the Hancock-McCune-Horne American Legion Post #705 of Centerville and assisted by the U.S. Army.
