Anna Salamone Brownsville Businesswoman


Anna Salamone, age 98 of Fredericktown, PA died Friday October 28, 2005 in the Monongahela Valley Hospital. She was born December 24, 1906 in Messina, Italy a daughter of Vito and Antonina Calabro Santora. She was brought to this country at the age of three. Since 1954 she owned and operated Salamone's Italian Store in Brownsville (Centerville Boro.). She remained active with the day-to-day operations of the store until the last few years. Mrs. Salamone served as a Judge of Elections in Fredericktown for more than 50 years. On July 25, 1925 she married Sebastian Salamone who died in 1964. Surviving are three sons - Frank Salamone of Fredericktown, Vito Salamone of Beaver Falls, PA and Anthony Salamone of Brownsville, PA; Three Granddaughters - Susan, Anna and Teresa Salamone; Two Sisters - Trieste Biskup and Grace Balaz both of Masontown, PA. Deceased in addition to her husband is a grandson - Sammy Salamone; One Sister - Mary Foti; Two Brothers - Fred Santoro and John Santora.
Friends will be received Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9pm in the Greenlee Funeral Home 42 Bank St. Fredericktown, PA where friends will gather at 9:30am Monday October 31, 2005 to proceed to a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00am in the St. Michael Archangel Church of the St. Oliver Plunkett Parish, Fredericktown with Rev. Paul Grunebach as Celebrant. Interment will be in the Beallsville Cemetery, Beallsville, PA.
