OBITUARY

Robert R. “Bob” Pitzer, 86 of Daisytown, PA, formerly of Beallsville, passed away Saturday March 21, 2015 in the Donnell House, Washington.
He was born February 17, 1929 in Beallsville, a son of the late Luther and Thelma Nickeson Pitzer.
In 1993, after 28 years of service, he retired from Washington Steel where he last worked as a grinder operator.
Mr. Pitzer was an active lifelong member of the Beallsville United Methodist Church where he previously served as a Trustee. He was a former councilman of Beallsville Borough and was a member of the United Steel Workers of America.
Bob was the last surviving founding member of the Beallsville Ten Point Lodge, located in Elk County. He enjoyed hunting, wood working and welding. He especially enjoyed spending time with his family and working on his son’s farm.
On January 24, 1950 he married Frances Baker Pitzer, who survives. They celebrated 65 years of marriage.
Surviving in addition to his wife are four children, Robert D. Pitzer (Terri) of Bridgeport, NY, Mona F. Smith (George) of Carmichaels, Ronald D. Pitzer (Cheryl) of Washington and Glen O. Pitzer (Lois) of Scenery Hill; ten grandchildren, Julie Miller, Robert M. Pitzer, Christine L. Sekulski, Andrea M. Culligan, Tony Pitzer, Ashley Pitzer, Lindsey A. Leyda, Taylor Pitzer, Lisa M. Osburn and John Duane “J. D.” McCarty; eight great grandchildren; brother, Dale Pitzer of Rogers, OH; several nieces and nephews.
Deceased in addition to his parents is a grandson, George Scott Smith who passed away May 27, 1992; sister, Leota Virginia “Ginny" Lowther; brother, Luther Pitzer.

Friends will be received Tuesday from 1 to 4 and 6 to 8PM in the John B. Greenlee Funeral Home, 2830 Main St. Beallsville, PA where services will be held Wednesday March 25, 2015 at 11:00 AM with Pastor Max Miller officiating. Interment will be in the Beallsville Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Beallsville United Methodist Church, PO Box 136 Beallsville, PA 15313.
