OBITUARY

James J. "Jim" Martin, Sr.

James J. "Jim" Martin, Sr. 68, of Cokeburg died Wednesday July 5, 2006 unexpectedly in his home. He was born December 6, 1937 in Daisytown a son of Warren Martin Sr. of Malden and the late Bertha Buglak Martin who died December 6, 1997. . Mr. Martin was a 1955 Graduate of California High School and a veteran serving as a Corporal in the U.S. Marine Corps. He had been employed by Jones & Laughlin Steel Corp. as a foreman at the Aliquippa Works for 29 1/2 years before retiring in 1992. He later was employed as an electrician for Robert Morris College for over 10 years before retiring in 2003. Mr. Martin was a member of the Ave Maria Roman Catholic Parish of Bentleyville and enjoyed fishing, in which he was a former walleye state record holder, hunting, and collecting baseball cards. On October 21, 1961 he married Joan Kosko Martin who survives. Also surviving in addition to his wife and father are one daughter, Jamie Kudas and her husband Tom of Richeyville, two sons, James Martin, Jr. of Tribecca, N.Y., Jeffrey Martin and his wife Kristen of Olmstead Falls, OH., One brother, Warren Martin, Jr. of KY., one sister, Judy White of Fredericktown, three grandchildren, Sydney, Evan, & Reid Martin, and several nieces and nephews. Deceased in addition to his mother is one sister, Chyrel Shaunessy and one brother, Dale "Deke" Martin. Friends will be received from 2-9pm Sunday in the Greenlee Funeral Home, 619 Main St. Bentleyville where prayers will be said at 9:30AM Monday July 10, 2006 followed by a Mass of Christian burial at 10:00AM in the Ave Maria Roman Catholic church, Bentleyville with Rev. Ed Wickman as celebrant. Interment will be in Beallsville Cemetery.
